Gym membership complete

Last night I promised myself I'd join the gym. I set the alarm early and had sweet dreams of fat burning off of my body. Actually I dreamed of taking a bus to Canada in the snow, but whatever.

I went in and told them I wanted to sign up and sign up fast so I could take the 10:00 a.m class. The nice lady told me the class fills up super fast, and people actually line up to sign in. Woah. She then took me over to the membership lady, and my god I can't remember her name, but she was fricking AWESOME. She had a bright smile and was so adorable that I could just gobble her up.

We sat down and had a chat about membership, and she asked about my goals. I told her basically I wanted to lose weight. She inquired further. Did I want to get back to a body weight I used to have? Well no, not really. I told her that I was planning on moving this summer, and I wanted to shed some weight and feel better about myself by the time I move.

Her face lit up as we discussed my adventure, because lo and behold, she had just done a move from CO to CA herself! Wow! We had a great chat about how empowering it is to just pack up and go. She told me she outgrew Denver, and the bay area made her feel at home! We chatted back and forth about our adventures, and it's so so inspiring to hear stories of others who have gone through, or are going through, a very similar situation.

We hugged at the end of our meeting, and I was set to go...as a MEMEBER! With my huge, unfashionable white tee shirt and baggy shorts, I hopped on the treadmill to warm up. I did about 20 minutes at a relaxed, steady speed and then moved on to the tummy crunching area. I crunched until my tummy burned, and then it was class time!

I walked over to the room and the lady was no joke. There was a huge line at the door! The instructor even came up to me to make sure I was on the list. This was even more elite than a club on a Saturday night, and I got in! Score. The women in line (one male there) were all wearing tight black work out pants and cute skinny lady tops. I felt a little out of my comfort zone with my cheap sneakers and weak outfit. I was definitely not going to be scoped out at the gym!

The class was at the very least, a total ass kicker. Holy moly. It was an SET class - strength endurance training. We lifted and kicked and jumped and stepped, and pretty much proceeded to get wooped in just an hour's time. By the end, I thought I was going to pass out and desperately needed some water. As I fished through my purse for some change, I felt very pleased that I finished the class. Considering I haven't worked out in a gym, I mean really worked out...ever? At least none that I can remember.

My legs are a little sore and I definitely am feeling, but I plan on going back tomorrow. There are no Sunday classes, so it's just me and the gym, although a friend is a member of that gym so maybe we can hook up and motivate each other.

It's cold and rainy here, so not feeling up to doing too much. My friend needs help setting up her new laptop, and I'll help her do that and teach her how to steal wireless internet.
