I joined a legal assistant association in Marin County. I didn't join to be involved with an elitist group, but rather, something to add to my resume. Sort of lame? Maybe. The group is pretty funny actually. We meet once a month at a fancy pants Italian restaurant. I've gone to two meetings so far, and they are kind of ZZZzzzz...
Tonight I got initiated. I took an oath of confidentiality and ethics. I got a pin. It was very sweet. As an added bonus, I received a membership packet.
The ladies are sweet, but definite fuddy-duddies. There is at the least, an entire generation gap between me and everyone else. These ladies also love their legal assistant group. One lady is a crafter and makes jewelery and clothing with the group logo on it. It seems to be run by the same three women, alternating positions on the board.
I left early tonight to go into the city and celebrate the 40th birthday of a good friend. What can I say about Yoshi's? It's freaking fantastic!
To start off the festivities, I treated myself to a "Miles Away." Some kind of alcohol mixed with ginger ale, fresh lemon juice, and orange peel. It was like drinking candy. Then the tempura came out, then the shrimp, then...the SUSHI.
I'm not a big fan of sushi. I tend to stick with only the veggie ones, and I do not get experimental with sushi, EVER. Maybe it was the drink, or maybe it was the atmosphere with the jazz band in the background, but I fucking went for it. Yellowfin tuna...down the hatch. Crab sushi, no problem. I gobbled it up like there was no tomorrow, but there will be a tomorrow, and I will be in a world of hurt.
Tonight, I went out lighthearted, which with all the stuff on my mind lately, has been hard to do. So tonight, there is no quitting smoking, or moving, or money worries...just legal meetings and tuna rolls.
